We found him on Houzz, due to the high number of recommendations he had and from the minute he engaged with us, he was helpful and spent a lot of time working through what was quite a complex job, he never seemed to use our lack of knowledge against us, instead checking and rechecking our understanding and pointing out issues before they got too big. Jules was reliable, on time, hardworking and what he said it would be it was. We didn’t mind when we had to add variations along the way, as Jules was open and communicative, and the end result is just so good that we had him and his family over to enjoy the landscaping as they had deserved it so much!

Project Summary:

 Scope of Work Completed:

Excavation:

• • The site was expertly excavated to prepare for various landscape features, leveling and grading the land for the installation of retaining walls, pathways, and garden beds and other structures.

Retaining Wall Solutions:

• • Concrete Retaining Walls:

Durable solid concrete retaining walls and footings were installed, designed to effectively manage soil retention and enhance the structural integrity of the garden layout.

1. • Bevelled and Painted Treated Pine Sleepers:

Custom beveled treated pine sleeper walls were installed, painted for aesthetic consistency, and providing a natural look that complements the overall landscape and supports longevity.

Drainage Solutions:

1. • A comprehensive drainage system was integrated behind the retaining walls to manage water flow and prevent erosion or water pooling. This includes the installation of:
     • Perforated drainage pipes along the base of retaining walls, connected to stormwater systems to divert excess water away from the property.
     • Strip drains & stormwater pits where needed to manage runoff and improve water distribution across the site.
     • Surface grading adjustments throughout the property to ensure that water drains away from high-traffic areas and toward designated drainage points, reducing waterlogging and promoting healthy soil.

Tiled Staircase:

1. • A beautifully designed, inviting tiled staircase was created to connect various levels of the property. The staircase serves both a functional and decorative purpose.

Travertine Tiling:

1. • Pool Area: Premium travertine tiles were carefully laid around the pool, creating a seamless and stylish transition from the pool to the surrounding garden.

1. • Large Alfresco Entertaining Area: The alfresco entertaining space was enhanced with expansive travertine tiling, which provides a luxurious and durable surface for outdoor gatherings.

1. • Travertine Stepping Stones: Separate travertine stepping stones were installed throughout the garden, creating a striking visual effect and functional pathway.

Large Day Bed Storage Bench:

• A custom day bed with Merbau timber slats was built, offering both seating and built-in storage, combining aesthetics and practicality.

Sandstone Feature Wall:

• A Sandstone feature wall was carefully installed, creating a natural focal point create excellent curb appeal and adding texture and depth to the design.

Concrete Driveway and Pathways:

• A new, full-colour concrete driveway and surrounding pathways were poured, providing durable and visually appealing entrance to the home. The pathways connect all major areas, enhancing the flow of the landscape.

Feature Plantings and Garden Design:

• The landscape was brought to life with an array of feature plants and trees, selected to complement the surrounding environment. New soil and turf were added to improve the garden’s health and aesthetic.
• Raised planter boxes were strategically placed to add visual interest and accommodate various plants, while decorative pebbles added a clean, modern look to garden beds and surrounding stepping stones.

Pool Filter Box:

• The pool filter box was fully enclosed, ensuring that the pool equipment is neatly concealed while remaining easily accessible and silent to the neighbors.

Design & Aesthetic Achievements:

The completed project reflects a high-end, contemporary design using premium materials such as travertine, Merbau timber, Australian sandstone, and primed treated pine. The space now features a perfect balance of functionality and elegance, creating an inviting atmosphere for outdoor activities. The cohesive design seamlessly integrates the house with the garden, enhancing the overall aesthetic and maximizing the use of outdoor living areas.

The project was completed on schedule, with all areas thoroughly inspected and finished to the highest standards.
