Drummoyne – Pool Surrounds Decking

Tree of Life Landscapes was tasked with designing and constructing a luxurious pool surrounds decking that enhances both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the client’s outdoor space. Our team used premium Spotted Gum Timber for the decking, a durable and visually striking material known for its unique grain patterns and long-lasting performance. The decking framework was treated with a waterproofing agent to ensure longevity and resistance to moisture, ensuring the structure’s durability and the client’s peace of mind. Additionally, an adequate drainage system was implemented to effectively divert water passing through the decking, preventing water from accumulating beneath and maintaining the integrity of the structure.

Scope of Work:

1. Design & Consultation:

1. • Conducted an in-depth consultation with the client to understand their design preferences and functional requirements.
   • Provided a custom design layout that integrates seamlessly with the existing pool area and surrounding landscaping.
2. Material Selection:

1. • Carefully selected Spotted Gum Timber, a premium hardwood renowned for its strength, weather resistance, and unique appearance.
   • Recommended a waterproofing agent for the decking’s framework, ensuring enhanced protection against water damage, rot, and mould.
2. Decking Construction:

1. • Cleared and prepared the site for construction, including removing existing turf, leveling and ensuring proper drainage for optimal performance.
   • Built a solid structural framework that supports the Spotted Gum Timber decking while providing adequate stability and longevity.
   • Installed the Spotted Gum Timber boards with precision using stainless steel screws, creating a visually appealing and functional pool surrounds area.
2. Waterproofing & Treatment:

1. • Applied a high-quality waterproofing agent to the decking framework to safeguard the structure against moisture and environmental elements.
   • Ensured that all timber surfaces were treated and sealed to enhance both aesthetics and durability.
2. Drainage System Implementation:

1. • Designed and incorporated an effective drainage system that directs water passing through the decking, diverting it away from the area below the deck to prevent water accumulation.
   • Ensured proper slope and drainage pathways to maintain the longevity of the decking and prevent potential water damage or rot beneath the structure.
2. Final Touches & Clean-Up:

1. • Puttied, sanded and finished the timber with premium decking oil to ensure a smooth, splinter-free surface.
   • Performed a thorough clean-up of the area, removing all construction debris and ensuring the pool surrounds were ready for use.
