Project Overview
This garden uplift in Mosman was designed to transform the outdoor space into a sophisticated and functional retreat, seamlessly blending modern design elements with natural beauty. The focus was on creating an elegant, low-maintenance garden that enhanced the luxury of the client’s home adding value to their property, while offering a tranquil environment for relaxation and entertainment. The result is a beautifully cohesive landscape, showcasing high-quality materials and innovative features, all tailored to meet the client’s vision.
The garden’s soft scaping features an exquisite selection of plants, some of which were existing which were dug out and replanted after construction, including ornamental species such as Buxus and Clivea. Other plants were chosen for their year-round appeal, providing texture and visual interest throughout the seasons. These included Gardenia and Magnolia.
Hardscaping was a key element of the design, beginning with the installation of new, large-format porcelain tiles that seamlessly flow from the indoor living spaces to the garden. The sleek, minimalist design of the tiles complements the home’s modern aesthetic while providing a practical and elegant surface. A striking rendered backdrop was created along one side of the garden, providing a clean, neutral canvas for the architectural stainless-steel cabling, forming a beautiful, functional trellis for jasmine to climb. As the jasmine matures, it will create a living, fragrant wall that adds both texture and depth to the space.
A beautiful water feature was designed as a focal point, surrounded by supportive plantings to enhance its natural beauty. The water feature is minimalist in style, with cascading water that creates a tranquil ambiance. Subtle lighting integrated into the feature highlights its flowing waters at night, adding to the serene atmosphere. Feature seating, crafted from durable stone, was strategically placed around the garden, offering relaxing spots to enjoy the views and surroundings.
The garden’s irrigation system was upgraded with a sophisticated automatic solenoid drip system, ensuring that the plants receive precise and efficient watering. This system helps maintain the lush, green appearance of the garden while minimizing water waste, promoting sustainability. To further enhance the garden’s functionality, a custom slatted cover was designed to conceal the air conditioning unit. The cover is made from the same materials as other existing elements, blending seamlessly into the overall design while keeping the focus on the garden’s aesthetic.
Garden ornaments and decor were carefully selected to add character to the space. Sculptural pieces and elegant pots were placed throughout the garden, providing a touch of personality and charm while enhancing the sophisticated atmosphere. The lighting design was thoughtfully layered, with warm ambient lights highlighting key features such as the water feature, seating areas, and plants. This creates an inviting atmosphere in the evenings, while accent lighting emphasizes the intricate details of the stainless-steel cabling and ornamental elements.
The challenges of integrating modern features with natural elements were expertly addressed through the selection of materials and design strategies that maintain a balance between sleek, contemporary hardscaping and lush, textured plantings. Privacy and screening were also prioritized, achieved with mature hedging and the strategically placed jasmine-covered wall.

By integrating modern design elements with natural features, the garden offers both beauty and functionality. The combination of high-end materials, such as stainless steel, porcelain tiles, and bespoke furnishings, creates an elegant, timeless environment.
